Guest Interaction
Reception 8:30-9:30am and 7-8pm daily at the farmhouse (signposted) please visit in these hours if you need anything as we are often out and about working on the farm. My father Michael looks after Wheems and we have 2 lovely people doing the changeovers and all the cleaning - Stephen and Mathilda. There are also lovely volunteers around who come to Wheems for several weeks at a time to learn about organic vegetable growing.

Guest Access
All campsite facilities downstairs - washing machine, guest herb garden (please pick your own!) all kitchen things, Reception 8:30-9:30am and 7-8pm daily at the farmhouse (signposted) please visit in these hours if you need anything as we are often out and about working on the farm.

Shower block - 4 showers, 4 loos, 3 washing up sinks, washing machine (£1.50 incl. soap)

Most things at Wheems are second hand and up-cycled as we are concerned about wastage. There is a network Wifi plug in the campers’ kitchen, the password is on the plug this is sometimes intermittent but there is 3G on the campsite so you will get a good connection with this.

Honesty Shop & Potted Herb Garden - Organic wholefoods, fresh eggs, bread, in season organic produce from the farm. Please help yourself to the herbs and salad leaves that we have planted for you, there is a watering can so if the plants look thirsty please feel free to help us water them!

Parking - The car park is signposted at the top of the track on your left beyond the tractor shed, parking in the car park is free. If this car park is full there is another smaller car park at the top of the first section of track.

Fires and Barbeques - These are permitted provided they are raised off the ground so as not to kill the grass nor cause any hazard.

Dogs - If you are bringing a dog please bring your own blankets and let me know if you need a dog basket. Please keep your dog on a lead whilst on the campsite, we have sheep, chickens and a stripy cat called Percy.

Art Gallery - Signposted near the farmhouse. Artwork and cards by Christina Sargent. Please visit in reception hours to order artwork. Payment for cards in the honesty tin please.

Other things
You are welcome to put in a food order from the organic shop in advance do let me know and I will send on the product list. There will be in season vegetables from the farm available on the produce shelves beside the dining area.

The Neighbourhood
South Ronaldsay is a peaceful island, the village St Margarets Hope is 3 miles away where there is a nice restaurant called Robertsons and a lovely art and craft shop called The Workshop & Loft Gallery. We have Tomb of the Eagles on South Ronaldsay and Leila Thompson Tapestry. There are some lovely coastal walks including South Ronaldsay coastal walk which goes along the cliffs and you can reach this from Newark Bay - the beach you can see from Wheems 7 mins walk away.

Getting around
There are regular buses from he village St Margarets Hope to Kirkwall and Stromness and everywhere in between. It is half an hour to Kirkwall and 50mins to Stromness. The village is 3 miles away so it is walkable and there is a taxi company in the village if you don't have a car. Alec and Jaqueline Rosie on 01856 831 444.
