Yurts

The Wheems Kyrgyzstani style yurts are made in the UK for a British climate and we have made some extra modifications for Orkney. The fire is easy to light and keeps the yurt warm.

They are 4.27m (14ft) diameter with a custom made wooden floor and double bed.

It is a wonderful adventure for those who enjoy lighting a fire every evening whilst looking out to sea. It is provided with blankets, towels, candles, lamps, log stove and firewood, one extra futon mattress under the bed for a third person and a stove top kettle, organic tea & coffee. The first basket of firewood is included in the price and extra can be purchased on site.

The yurts are provided with a double futon bed, an extra futon, blankets, washing up bowl, wood burning stove, cooking equipment, plates and bowls and cutlery. There will be a ar full of logs, kindling, firelight’s and matches. Extra firewood is available on site.

If you need bedding (duvet, pillows) please make sure you order it when booking or call us before arrival.

Please note there is NO ELECTRICITY in the yurt. You will become attached to the wood stove!

Yurt guests share the showers, loos and campers; kitchen with other campsite guests.

There is a maximum 3 adults per yurt. Though couples with two small children have stayed too so if that’s the case, please ask for an extra futon. But please be aware that two futons will take up the entire remaining floor space so do roll them up during the day.

The yurt is available from May to August inclusively.
